Year 4 Blog 2020-2021

Week beginning 16.11.2020

This week in Year 4, we have been learning how to multiply and divide by 10 and 100 accurately and finding the perimeter of simple shapes and compound shapes. 

We have been learning about sound in our science lessons, we now know that sound is created by vibrations travelling through gases, solids, and liquids. We completed an investigation to observe how the vibrations travelled through the air molecules and moved the sprinkles.

Our reading focus this week has been poetry! We have read 'If' by Rudyard Kipling, 'Mr Mistoffelees' by T.S Elliot and 'Chocolate Cake' by Michael Rosen. We have noticed when reading these poems, that not all poems have to rhyme, and the meanings of poems can vary.

In PSHE, we discussed the reasons that we would receive a reward or a consequence. We worked in groups to create freezeframes of different scenarios and the rest of the class had to decide whether the children should have been rewarded or given a consequence. 



We have been learning about Judaism in RE and this week we looked at the importance of the Torah. Once we learned about the contents of the Torah and why it is special to Jewish people, we created our own rules to live a happy life. We then wrote these rules onto our own version of a Torah.

We began our DT project this week, we started off by learning about the five main mechanisms, these are levers, pulleys, wheel and axels, a wedge, and inclined planes. We looked at how they are used in different inventions and practised constructing them with a partner. 

Week beginning 09.11.2020

This week in Year 4, we have been working on using the inverse to check calculations and two step addition and subtraction problems.

In our reading lessons this week, we have been learning about Armistice day and why we celebrate 11th November. We have learned about the Royal British Legion and why poppies are a symbol of remembrance. We also looked at the poem 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae and were inspired to write our own versions of the poems, here are some examples:




We started our art project this week, learning about what makes an effective advertisement. We researched a variety of advertisements to recognise the features that make them so engaging and memorable. We will later use these features to create our own advertisements using digital media art.

We learned about Passover and the Seder Plate and their importance. We can now explain why Jewish people celebrate Passover and can identify what food is found on a Sedar Plate and what it symbolises.

We have been learning about the history of technology in music and have recognised that inventions of music have progressed over time. We are now able to recognise and identify reasons for changes in inventions and how these inventions have impacted humans. We looked at a variety of different ways to listen to music and observed and discusses how they have changed throughout history.


Week beginning 02.11.2020

This week in Year 4, we have been learning how to add and subtract 1, 10, 100 and 1,000, and how to add and subtract 4-digit numbers using the formal written method. We made sure to use the formal written method accurately and to carefully add or subtract each column by starting with the ones.


We have been celebrating relationships week by discussing the different relationships that we have with people, understanding the qualities that relationships special to us, understanding what having a boyfriend or girlfriend might mean and understanding how relationships can help us to grow.


In our reading lessons we have recapped 'part one' of our class book 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret' and predicted what will happen in 'part 2' when we read it this half term. 

We have also been listening to a variety of songs and discussing the meaning behind the songs and how they can encourage and influence the listeners. 

We have started a new unit in music this half term based on the song 'Lean on me' by Bill Withers. We were able to successfully find the beat, pulse, and rhythm within the music.

In RE, we have been learning about the story of The Exodus and the 10 plagues of Egypt. Once we had read the story and learned about the 10 plagues, we worked in groups to act out one of the 10 plagues for the rest of the class to guess.

Week beginning 19.10.2020

This week in Year 4, we practised counting and sequencing in 25's accurately. We had to ensure that we were finding patterns in the last digit of the numbers and that the numbers followed the same pattern as it increased or decreased.

Last week, we wrote an informative piece of writing about a mouse trap inspired by Rube Goldberg. We adapted the mouse trap to make our own version and described the process in detail. This week, we published the writing beautifully to present our mouse trap in an interesting way whilst concentrating on our handwriting. 


In PSHE, we have been looking at the school community and the school citizens. We discussed the importance of different roles within the school and how they all have their own responsibilities in our community. We decided that every role in the school community is important and vital in our journey!

We have been reading about the Vikings this week, learning about their lifestyle and beliefs. We now know what language the Vikings spoke, where they came from, what they would trade, the reasons for invading and have learned about the Viking Gods.

We have finished learning about the pop group ABBA and learning how to play along to the song 'Mamma Mia' on the note G on the Glockenspiel. We have showcased what we have learned on a double page spread to explain the different learned skills, key terms, background information of the group and an album picture.

In our computing lessons, we have been practising how to convert sequence patterns into repeated loops to simplify algorithms. We were able to recognise repeated patterns in everyday activities and within codes and incorporate a loop to simplify them further. We then used these codes to create a repeated star pattern on Scratch.


Week beginning 12.10.2020

This week in Year 4, we have been looking at how to find 1, 10, 100 and 1,000 more or less than a given number and how to compare and order numbers up to 4 digits. We have practised how to use the greater than, less than and equals to symbols successfully to compare numbers and how to order them from smallest to largest and vice versa.

We learned about Rube Goldberg's whacky mouse trap invention and slightly adapted it to make our own version. Once we had changed aspects of the mouse trap, we wrote an informative explanation of how the mouse trap works. To make our writing even better, we made sure to include expanded noun phrases, time connectives, compound sentences using FANBOYS and the present tense.


In our reading lessons this week, we have been listening to Disney songs and interpreting them to understand the meaning behind the song. We listened to songs from Mulan, The Little Mermaid and Frozen! 

We have also finished the final chapter of 'Section 1' from our topic book The Inventions of Hugo Cabret, we have discovered so many new things about the story and we cannot wait to read the next section of the book!

In RE, we looked at Jesus' miracles. We can now recall a variety of the miracles that Jesus performed, for example, the bleeding woman, the mute, the blind man and walking on water! In groups, we put the story of the bleeding woman in the correct sequence and then acted out the story to the rest of the class.




In our science lesson, we investigated how far a Curly Wurly could be stretch. First of all, we had to discuss with our partners which method we would use to successfully stretch the Curly Wurly and made a prediction about the length that we could stretch it to. We then worked together to stretch and measure it carefully to see who stretched theirs the furthest. We then collected the results, recorded them in a table and reflected on our learning.



In PSHE, we discussed what it means to be a class team. We spoke about how it would make people feel to be included and excluded and whether this should be happening. Once we had spoken about including all people and how that would make them feel, we discussed what it means to be a class team and how we could ensure that we would always work together to make sure that everyone always feels included.

We have also learned about chocolatey contraptions! We now know that the Mayan civilisation invented chocolate many years ago. They were in possession of cacao beans and would dry, grind, and mix the beans with water to create a chocolatey drink but this was not as delicious as it sounds - it was a very bitter drink! They gave it to victorious warriors after battle, would use it during religious rituals, and even used cacao beans as currency. The Mayans were also responsible for inventing the calendar, rubber, beautiful buildings, and objects made from Jade.

Week beginning 05.10.2020

This week in Year 4, we have continued learning about Roman numerals! We completed an investigation using 15 lolly sticks, to find the highest and lowest Roman numerals.


We have been learning how to read the time using the clocks that we created. We have been looking at analogue and digital clocks and how to read the time accurately. This has also helped us to learn how to read the time in 12 hours and 24 hours.

In science, we have been looking at how important it is to keep our hands clean. We are in the process of investigating how the cleanliness of our hands affects the amount of germs and bacteria on them. It’s difficult to see how many germs are on our hands by simply looking, so, we are going to see how the germs appear on pieces of bread. The more germs/bacteria on the bread, the mouldier the piece of bread will eventually turn! We are looking forward to seeing the results of our fair test.

We have begun our new topic in PSHE this week, 'Being me in my world'. To start it off, we created a mind map as a class to express our feelings and opinions.

In our reading lessons, we have been reading different texts about a variety of mental health topics. We discussed life with ADHD and grief. We were able to talk about how people would feel in these situations and how they can be supported.

As part of our computing lessons, we learned about computer networks. We now understand what networks, network switches and servers are. To help us develop our understanding, we used a piece of string to create a human network. We each represented a different component of the network and were able to explain the importance of each role.


Week beginning 28.09.2020 

This week in Year 4, we have been consolidating our knowledge of partitioning numbers. We can recognise and identify the thousands, hundreds, tens and ones within a variety of numbers. We have also been learning about Roman numerals, we are now able to recognise the numerals from 1 (I) to 1,000 (M). 

We were also able to incorporate our knowledge of Roman numerals into making a clock! We created our very own clocks whilst learning how to read the time, we were able to turn the hands on our clocks to read different times in the day.

Whilst learning about clocks, we learned about the time zones across the world. We looked at how the times differ in a variety of countries and were able to calculate what time it would be in countries across the world compared to the time in London.

In our reading lessons, we have been learning about notable individuals. We have been learning about Mary Queen of Scots, Boudicca, and Pocahontas, we are now able to recognise the milestones in their lives and understand the changes that they made in history. 

We have reflected on our learning of the Colours of Regulation this week. We can now recognise and explain the emotions that we are feeling, how others are feeling in different situations and use strategies to help ourselves and others to feel green again.

We have been looking at the music 'Mamma Mia' by ABBA and identifying the instruments that are played to create the music, how to identify the pulse within the music and how to keep a steady beat throughout. 

In science, we have looked at the forces used by magnets. We now know that magnets have north, and south poles and they will either attract or repel other materials. We now know that two north poles and two south poles of magnets repel one another but a north and south pole will attract each other! We completed an investigation to test whether a variety of materials would be magnetic or not. We did this by testing whether a magnet would attract or repel a rubber, pencil, ruler, sharpener, pair of scissors, paperclips, and a book.

Week beginning 21.09.2020

This week in Year 4, we have continued learning about astonishing contraptions in history!

In maths, we have been rounding to the nearest 100 and counting in 1,000's. We had to make sure that we recognised whether the number had to be rounded up or down to the nearest 100, by looking at whether the number was higher or lower than 50. 

In science, we learned about friction. We know that friction is a force and that it can have an impact on the movement of objects on different surfaces. We completed an investigation to observe how much friction was created on a variety of surfaces. 

In history, we have looked at the marvels of Roman technology! The Romans created roads and aqueducts; we still use these today! We have also been learning about the history of clocks. We now know that clocks have evolved from sundials and water clocks to the modern-day clocks that we use today. We created our own sundial to track the time throughout the day, each hour of the day we would mark the shadow to observe the movements of the sun.

In PSHE, we have discussed our own experiences of the colours of regulation. We discussed the situations that cause us to feel different emotions in our day-to-day lives and recorded them in a table. We also reflected on experiences we had where we transitioned from one colour to another and thought of strategies to help ourselves to feel green again. 

Week beginning 14.09.2020

This week in Year 4, we have been learning how to read a number line and how to plot a number accurately, rounding up or down to the nearest 10 and completed a maths investigation that involved us accurately identifying the place value of numbers.

In history, we have been learning about the Stone Age and how times changed leading to the Iron Age. We looked at the changes in their homes, their weapons and tools and the food that they ate. We then used this information to plot the changes in time onto a chronological timeline!

In PE, we have been practising our rounders skills. We have been practising how to throw and bowl a ball, how to strike a ball and how to field during a game.

Using our knowledge of the Stone Age, we have written the beginning of a story. Our story is based on our character waking up one morning in the Stone Age, they meet a strange person and explore this person's cave. Suddenly, a terrifying animal attacks!

We had to make sure that we used expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials, and our non-negotiables. We used the chromebooks to plan, write and redraft our work!

In science, we have been learning about light. This week, we looked at shadows and how they change size and position when the light source moves. We completed an investigation using torches to observe the change in size and position as we moved the torch around a glue stick.

In PSHE, we have been discussing how to regulate our feelings. This week, we watched videos and identified which colours the characters were feeling and were able to explain the actions that identified as the different colours of regulation. We then worked in groups to create a freeze frame that clearly showed the colours of regulation.

Week beginning 07.09.2020

This week in Year 4 we have been exploring our first topic 'Astonishing Contraptions'. Throughout this topic we will be using the book 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret'.

In maths, we have been looking at numbers to 1,000, hundreds, tens and ones and number lines to 1,000. 

We have also completed a maths activity based on Stone Age animals. We used top trumps cards to look at and compare the statistics of the different animals. We were then able to input the data into a table and bar graph, ensuring that we were using the appropriate labels and measurements.


In PSHE, we have been learning about the colours of regulation and their importance. We know that the colours of regulation will help us to regulate our emotions and to use strategies to help us to feel better.

In science, we have been learning about light and its importance. We can now identify which objects are light sources and which objects reflect the light or allow light to pass through them. 

In history, we have been learning about the Stone Age. We have specifically been looking at the hunter gatherers and Neolithic farmers and how they differ from each other.

'The Year 4 team would like to extend a warm welcome to the new Year 4 pupils and their adults! This week we have been thrilled to welcome the children back into school! They have adapted brilliantly to the new routines and shown incredible maturity with their attitude towards coming back in. 

This week, we have been taking the opportunity to get to know each other better. The children have shared their memory books and some of their proudest stories and achievements from the lock down period and the summer holidays. The children have also completed a number of tasks and games to share their hobbies and personalities with us. 

The children have also been engaging with our topic 'Astonishing Contraptions' through a range of hook activities. We have been focusing on the idea of inventors solving problems as the children have been involved in team-building activities and challenging problems in different contexts. This included creating and testing a floating, weight-bearing structure using limited materials.


Finally, the children have been considering the ingenuity and problem-solving skills of people in the Stone Age as they reflected on cave paintings. The children used natural materials such as chalk, charcoal and assorted berries to create their own cave paintings using the same techniques as people in the Stone Age would have used.'



Year 3 Blog 2020-2021

Week beginning 13.07.2020

We can't believe that it is our last week in Year 3. It's true what they say, time flies when you're having fun and we most certainly have had a LOT of fun together! 

We have had a very interesting year, we never would have expected to be teaching you from a screen but we have still really enjoyed having you in our classes. Miss Jackson, Mrs Rice, Mrs Izatt and Mrs Cawcutt would like to thank you all for being an amazing year group this year, we have been blown away by your kindness, how thoughtful you are and your enthusiasm towards learning. You are all going to be fantastic Year 4's and we cannot wait to see you again in September. We hope you have the best summer break!

We have been super busy in our English lessons this week.

At the beginning of the week we finished off our setting description writing, ensuring that we used all of the necessary features and our imaginations! Once we had finished this, we started looking at how to write a successful letter. We looked at summarising information, the features of a letter, subordinate clauses and subordinating conjunctions and wrote a letter using all of these features.



In maths, we have continued learning about mass. We have been solving problems, reading scales and reading, comparing and ordering capacity and volume.



In RE, we have been learning about special foods in different religions. We have looked at how food can be used in different religious festivals such as Good Friday, Ramadan, Eid, Rosh Hashanah, Diwali, Christian Harvest Festival and Hanukkah.



Throughout the year, we have been using Scratch to complete a variety of different projects by creating our own codes. This week we have been working on the final boat race! We used operators to compare numbers, add codes to detect when a sprite is touching a colour and using a variable to record the time. 


Week beginning 06.07.2020

In maths we have been learning about measurements. We have specifically been learning how to read scales when measuring/weighing different objects and comparing and ordering the mass of a variety of objects.


We have been studying the brilliant Basquiat this week! 

He was a South American artist that liked to paint and make music, his art work was heavily influenced by graffiti. We had a look at his different pieces of art and answered some questions using our own opinions. We then created our own drawings influenced by his work, here are our masterpieces:


We have been very busy with our English work this week!

We started off the week by finishing off our adventure stories that we were working on last week. We then started learning about how to write a setting description including all of the key features.




In French, we have been learning how to say Je peux (I can) and use it to say what we can do. We can now say Je peux sauter, Je peux ecrire, Je peux ecouter, Je peux boire and Je peux parler. We enjoyed our live French lesson this week as we got to repeat each of the phrases and improve our pronunciation even more!



Week beginning 22.06.2020

This week in year 3, we have been learning about shapes in maths. We have looked at their properties, quadrilaterals, 2D and 3D shapes and symmetry. 

In English, we have been looking at the features of instructions so that we can write our very own instructions for a robot! We have been designing our own Cobots that can help families throughout the pandemic and we have written instructions to show them how to operate our Cobots successfully. We have made sure to include adjectives, adverbs, imperative verbs and the necessary features of a set of instructions. Here are some examples:

In DT, we have been planning and designing carnival floats suitable for the iconic American carnivals! This week we have been creating our prototypes, ensuring that we included each of the requirements of the design criteria. Here are our creations:

In RE, we have been learning about some of the rules surrounding food in different religions. Food is a very important part of lots of different religions. Some food is used for special purposes, some foods are used to celebrate special events, and some foods are forbidden or avoided according to special religion rules. We discussed our favourite meals and explained which religions could or could not eat it.






Week beginning 15.06.2020

This week in Year 3 we have been learning about lots of different things, we have been super busy!


We're poets and didn't even know it! In English, we have been looking at poetry and how to write one based on the sounds that we have collected from our homes. We have been inspired by 'The Sound Collector' poem to write our own versions. Throughout the week, we have looked at the features of poetry to ensure that our poems are amazing. Here are some examples:

In maths, we have been learning all about parallel and perpendicular lines. We went on a hunt around our homes or school to identify any parallel or perpendicular lines and have been able to accurately draw them into our books, with rulers of course!

In geography, we have been learning about similarities and difference between England and Brazil. Whilst doing this, we had a look at the human and physical features within each country and compared them.

We have been completing two DT projects throughout our 'Amazing Americas' topic. We have learned about the different carnivals that occur in America and have been designing and creating our own carnival floats:

We have also been preparing and making different American foods:

In science, we have been learning about magnets and investigating which materials are magnetic. Using a variety of materials, we have tested which of them are magnetic by hovering a magnet above them and seeing whether they attract.

In computing, we have been using Scratch to create our own pictures with a pen. This week we have focused on adding a pen extension, using broadcasting to control a sprite and responding to mouse events. It has been a little tricky but we have persevered and managed to create some great projects!


We had our first live lessons this week and they were a huge success. We were able to look through the information that we need to know and practise some examples together too! All of the children that joined were so super polite, respectful and wonderful! All of the Year 3 teachers were very impressed and cannot wait to have more live lessons with you!


Week beginning 07.06.2020

Well, another super week of learning has taken place for us in Year 3 this week. The weather couldn’t dampen our spirits! Let’s have a little look at what we have been getting up to!

 We moved onto lesson 2 of our carnival float design & technology project. This week, we learned how a chassis, wheels and axles work together to create a moving vehicle and trialled using these in our own carnival floats. To help us with our learning, we watched some videos about how these worked to gain a better understanding.

Here are some of our DT projects so far:

In music, we carried on our learning about understanding and identifying the pulse in pieces of music. We clapped the pulse to lots of different pieces of music from a variety of genres and also learned some cool songs! We really enjoyed watching the videos of you stomping, clapping, dancing and tapping to different musical pulses.


Our science lesson this week called on us to be scientists and complete our own investigation, if we were up to the challenge! We learned about a force called friction and investigated how different surfaces can affect the friction acting upon a moving object. To do this, we used toy cars, a ramp and tested how fast the car travelled on different surfaces like carpet, gravel, grass and wood. We then wrote down our findings in our books.  


In maths this week, we started the week looking at multiplication, then moved on to a little bit of division and ended the week with some tricky problem solving using our skills that we had practised and perfected throughout the week.

In English this week, we have been looking at how to use fronted adverbials, similes, adjectives, adverbs, FANBOYS and apostrophes for possession. We have included all of these things in a character description that we have written about a superhero that we have created! Here are some examples:

We held our first live PSHE lesson in Year 3 on Friday morning! We spoke about pride and what this means and if it is important to feel pride and be proud of ourselves. We have decided that we should all be proud of our achievements and celebrate them with each other too because it might inspire someone else to be brave and try something new.


Our PE lesson on Thursday afternoon was SO much fun! We became gym instructors and put our families and toys to the test. We chose ten activities to complete in a circuit and then we modelled each exercise. We had to spend the same amount of time on each activity and then swapped over to the next one. It was EXHAUSTING!

Week beginning 01.06.2020

What an excellent first week back we have had in Year 3! Every single one of you has worked extremely hard and put the maximum amount of effort and care into your work, we are so proud of you! It has been amazing to hear from so many of you again and to hear about the fun that you had during half term, it makes us miss you even more than we already do!


In maths we have been learning about money! We have been counting coins and notes, converting pennies into pounds and pounds into pennies and how to add and subtract pounds and pence. We have also been looking at how to use metric units of length. We have been super busy mathematicians this week!

We have been working on our reading comprehension skills a lot this week too. We have been learning how to retrieve facts from a text, looking at the language that is used within a text and practised using adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions. 

In computing, we have been using Scratch to create a space mission to Earth! We have been working on animating a space rocket to fly to Earth through space, using coding and costume changes.

We learned about volcanoes in geography this week. We have looked at why volcanoes occur and where they can be found in America. Did you know that there are around 1,510 volcanoes in the world?! The largest active volcano can be found in Hawaii, it's called Mauna Loa.


Throughout this half term, we are focusing on our design and technology skills and using them to prep and make different meals/snacks. We have been learning about different foods from North and South America and designing meals based on the foods that we have learned about. We have been super helpful in the kitchen and cooked up a storm! Here are some pictures of the things that we have been working on:

We have also been working on a DT project that involves designing, making and evaluating carnival floats! We have been using the resources that we have available to us at home or school to create our very own carnival float that could be used in an American carnival!

In science, we learned about forces. We now know that a force is a push or pull acting on an object as a result of the object's interaction with another object. We thought carefully about when we would use a push or pull force at home, putting socks on uses a pull force!

Week beginning 18.05.2020

We have had yet another successful and exciting week in Year 3, time flies when you are having fun!

 In maths this week we have been recognising, finding and writing fractions for shapes and quantities. We now know how to find equivalent fractions and compare fractions with different denominators. We have been enjoying using the Oak National Academy online learning platform to complete our maths!

In geography, we have been learning about earthquakes and the tectonic plates! We now know why earthquakes happen and how to keep ourselves safe during an earthquake. 

In computing, we have been using Scratch to create our very own rock bands! We have learned how to use codes to change our sprite's costumes, reactions and to add sound. We have seen some rockin' examples in our class studio:

In art, we have completed our final attempts of our South American inspired murals. We worked extremely hard to ensure that we had perfected our drawings before creating our final pieces of art.

In PE, we created our very own homemade athletics tournaments. We could create any athletics activities to complete and record our timings, we even challenged someone else in our house to complete the same activities!

In science, we have been looking at how to be safe in the sun! We know that light from the sun can be dangerous and that there are ways that we can protect our eyes. This has been quite helpful recently, especially with the beautiful weather we have been having!

In music, we have been looking at a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music drawn from different traditions and from great composers and musicians. We listened to some music by Elvis Presley - the king of rock and roll himself! We learned about the history of rock and roll and how the music came to be popular.

Week beginning 11.05.2020

This week in Year 3, we have continued to work extra hard on all of our assignments and have been completing our work at a very high standard!

In maths, we have started learning about fractions. We have been using the Oak National Academy resources to help us develop our understanding. We've had so much fun! We have been looking at relating halves and quarters to division, describing the part whole relationship in fractions, identifying the parts of a fraction, recognising which parts are equal and unequal, identifying half, quarter and a third of a shape, identifying and describing unit and non-unit fractions. We have been going fractions crazy!

In geography, we have been learning about the layers of the Earth. We know that the Earth has 4 different layers: Crust, Mantle, Inner core and Outer core. To show what we had learned, we created our own diagrams and models of the layers of the Earth:

In our GPS lessons, we have been learning how to use inverted commas and synonyms for the word 'said'. We completed a variety of activities to show where to use inverted commas and which pieces of punctuation should be used in a sentence. As the word 'said' can be a little boring and over-used, we have been thinking of different words (synonyms) that can be used instead!

Once we had completed our GPS work, we were able to use what we had learned in our writing this week. We have been telling tales!

As we are now learning about the amazing America's, we have been looking at South American Folktales. There are so many different folktales around the world that tell a story and we have chosen to take a look at 'The Rabbit and The Coyote'. Our task this week was to re tell the tale in our own way but had to make sure that we used inverted commas, synonyms for 'said', prepositions and adverbs. To start us off, we learned about the folktale and then acted it out or put the tale into a storyboard. We then planned out our writing and retold the story with our own twist. We have been learning about some of the different American celebrations and holidays. We chose a celebration to study and learn about before creating our own presentations or posters about it! We had the options of Independence Day, Presidents Day or Veterans Day:

We continued practising our artistic skills this week to create our own American murals. We have chosen an important American person to base our murals on and have been making several attempts to sketch them accurately.

In science we have been learning about shadows and investigating how they change size. Last week, we learned about how shadows are formed but now we are investigating how they change size. We have discovered that shadows change size when the distance between the light and the object changes! We investigated by using a light source and an object and changed the distance between them to see whether the size of the shadow changed. We found that the smaller the distance between the light and object, the bigger the shadow!
